Another week gone and Monday morning looms large again.

Never mind, got Royal Ascot to cheer me up though with working all week it's going to mean a lot of fast-forwarding on the recorder later in the evening. Once you've got rid of the chatter and brainless ads you can watch all the races in 10 minutes!

      Tips anybody? Alison?

Funny you should ask about tips, I was just going to put the very same question.
Studying form is not really part of my schedule these days, so a couple of solid recommendations at tasty prices would do very nicely thanks !!

Where did the weekend go ?

thing about Royal Ascot is that all that wonderful racing is wasted on all those drunk idiots who are just there on a company jolly.
Can't be doing with going to big meetings, too much drinking, which is better done in the pub IMO.
        Mumble grumble !!

Hows the new boss, pet ?

Pleasant little day, visit to Hertford for Fathers Day.

Had a play on parents piano. I like to play in Mrs Mills mode occasionally.

Still coming to terms with the loss of poor Sir Henry, the show must go on at Royal Ascot.

Fraid I've hardly caught up with any of the British music. I played the BBCMM disc of the War Requiem a fair bit last week.

I've never been to the Aldeburgh festival but tend to go into Britten mode while it's on.

Not exactly sure what's running at Ascot and how the draw bias might work out.

New boss? Can't quite get a handle on her if you know what I mean. The old boss is still there until he gets into his head office position so perhaps she'll show her true colours once he's gone. She doesn't seem like management material to me but I keep my opinions to myself.

Is this you then, Alison? :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlqZ_gXdEjc

Very sad about Sir Henry, end of an era.

bit of late weekend Tchaik 6 /OANSC/Antonio Pappano. Tony to his mates.

If I was any good on the piano, I would play Brahms. Nearly all the time. Probably.

I was thinking the other day that I should get to know the Brahms piano sonatas.

                      Things that happened today:
                      • Listened to Heinrich Schlusnus ("superstar baritone") singing Wagner and Verdi.
                      • Planted out some cosmos and parsley.
                      • In anticipation of Premier League fixtures being published on Wednesday, I finally detached from the fridge the sheet with last season's Crystal Palace results.
                      • Painted the bathroom door after plumbing refit.
                      • My son surprised me by phoning up to wish me a happy Father's Day. A kind thought but it is not an event that I attach much importance to, suspecting that it is a recent invention of the greetings card industry.

As with so much else Father's Day seems to have its origins in the USA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father's_Day

people struggle with these a bit, it seems.
I was told by a boad member to start at 3 and work backwards.
