Ooh, look foward to that, I wonder if they reviewed the Jordi Savall and Hesperion XX - which, imho, is totally divine and above all others.

... not like the ones here. But I do like the curried mutton pies of Pézenas - apparently Lord Clive, resident thereabouts, introduced them (or, more probably, his Indian cooks did).

Now morphed into Hesperion XXl Anna? - and have you come across Jordi Savall's marvellous "Celtic Viol" CDs?

Jordi's clothes deserve a review of their own - I like those floaty silk scarves he wears when playing the viol. Not practical for birdwatching though.

Some regional cuisine must include a raised pastry case filled with pressed spiced chopped pork, but I can't think where it might be found.

                I'm intrigued by the question.
Would it be an important part of a tour?
Would its presence encourage you to visit?
                Are you compiling a cookbook?
Do you have a punchline for a joke and need a stooge?

You can supply your own punchline - audience participation.

My inability to spot irony or a joke is a source of constant annoyance to those who know me.

The French would probably have horsemeat in their pies(no offence to any French intended, as I have French blood in me too!!)

I've now listened to this and I'm going to start a new thread about the critics programme, starting with a (non-spoiler) post about the Mahler 1 programme....
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

What a weekend last weekend was, as far as brass banding is concerned! Three Regionals were competing for the National Brass Band Championships. South West, North West, and Midlands.

A friend of mine plays in a band in the NW, and came 2nd in the 4th Section, which qualifyies them for the Finals, held at Cheltenham.

The Championship Section is always held in the Royal Albert Hall, Lodon in October. The lower sections are held in September.

I must have missed your Mahler 1 thread, Caliban.

                              Will have a nose around.

In the meanwhile, it's Sunday night again !

Who is in the snug tonight ?
