Just because a neglected thread is a sad thing, and it is sunday night.

Bit of music, and contemplation of a whole week off, and that fence already fixed.

And perhaps half a glass of something.
Might give the highlights of a boat race a swerve though.
    Nice.

      Hi Sainty

You seem in a carefree mood. No wonder with your team winning and a whole week off!

So disappointed Nigel has gone to Reading; it wasn't
too difficult to imagine a set of circumstances whereby he joined Leicester in the Summer.

Handel not normally my bag but really enjoying Messiah conducted by Solti.

Off work till Wednesday so no butterflies for now and a chance to catch up on some listening.

Evening Alison.Yes, not much to cast a shadow, except the slight risk of my order for the Sinopoli schoenberg etc set not being honoured by the tax dodgers!!

shame that Nige didn't go to a proper club, he can't lose by joining reading at Reading for the moment, so you can't really blame him. Proving to be a big task for the foxes...the championship is tighter than ever this season.

Not Messiah-ing myself. A bit of Mathias and Robert Simpson.

            Oh poor Mangers x

I was working yesterday at a similar time if it's any consolation.

This Messiah has even nearly moved me to tears at times ...

cheers. Its not just me, board members deluged the tax dodgers site !! £3.66 for an 8 CD set !!

I've hardly seen anybody outside of Rock music.

mind you , seen loads of great bands !!

My orders been confirmed, ts. Surely a mistake but they will honour it if previous experience is anything to go by. Like Alison, I too saw Sinopoli a couple of times both of them in Mahler (6 & 9).

Just Monday off for me then nose back to the grindstone on Tuesday earning a miserable crust. I'll have Monday night blues instead of the usual Sunday variety.

Just ordered it too. Sadly, I've got all the works separately except Guerre Lieder and one other Probably still worth it. I used to subscribe to the Philharmonia 20 odd years ago, so I've seen him quite a few times. One of the greatest IMVHO.

The Gurrelieder alone costs £24 and the prices asked for some of the other individual discs are laughable. I've got some of them on the Elatus label but at £3.66 for all 8 CD's it's what the kids call a no-brainer.

You are right, a no-brainer (sets my teeth on edge that term, but it's everywhere!). I have all the Elatus CDs, but they cram more onto the box set, so it's more than just Guerre Lieder that I don't have.

Thanks for the heads up on the £24 cost of Guerre Lieder alone, does wonders for the old 'cognitive-dissonance' !
