very exciting for him, being a football nut I think it would have been his first choice of place to go.
Our daughter phoned up today to say they had just booked flights to Austin Texas in March for a Film Festival where a film she edited is being featured. Sounds quite exciting. They're planning to hire a car and go to New Orleans and fly back from there.

Hi all. Was watching the Churchill funeral into the small hours last night having watched the original live broadcast back in 1965. Fascinating to see London 50 years ago and how much has changed and what looks the same.

Don't care much for the all weather racing, Alison, much prefer the jumps but really looking for better weather for Cheltenham in 6 weeks. I'll be there on Gold Cup Day as usual putting my bets on the losers. Not done too badly with winning bets in the past few weeks but mostly clawed back the losses made in the summer!

Another week at work. We have a charity event on Friday in aid of the British Heart Foundation. Apparently, we are to spend the day on a treadmill and raise money by sponsoring. I've been on a treadmill for the past 40 years and while this gets a laugh when I say it at work they don't understand that I'm not actually joking.

In my ignorance I had never heard of it. Having checked the website it does look really interesting. Hotel rooms at a premium, they said

I think it has a sort of industry bias, (lots of deals being done, showcases etc,) and is based around the town.

Always fancied it, as it is supposed to be very good. A couple of years ago, I was chatting to a buyer, who was about 23, and she mentioned she was off on her hols. I asked her where, and she said, South by South west" !!

I think I managed to be polite . Just !! good for her though, got to do stuff when you get the chance .

              SuperBowl, anyone?

I boycott it every year, as the Browns always miss out.

Seattle favourites? amazing recovery in the semi final, or whatever they call it. That Packers fellow who dropped the ball must have had a sleepless night or two.

i usually fall sleep to Five Live after midnight on Sunday - bit of a fan of Bishop Stephen Lowe who has been rudely ousted by commentary on this event which is of no interest to me.

Might stay for a pint or two tonight, day off work tomorrow.

                          Hurrah !!

hope everybody had a good weekend, even if your team messed up .

No footy stress for me this weekend, due to early cup exit. A rare trip out to the beautiful game for Rumpole, I see......

As you were intimating AG, we are lucky in this part of the world to be able to get up to see the music that London has to offer. I can be at the RFH in about 2 hours and for about £20, which makes it a sensible option. Always more to see than time and money allows.

Yes Fridays will never be the same again, what a wonderful project All of Bach is.
Someone should do an all of Malcolm Arnold or Weinberg (but on a different day).
Been a wonderful weekend here weatherwise, warm and sunny, plenty of dog walking.
Love reading those concert reviews too.

Still reeling a bit from the news of John McCabe's passing away.

Great weekend with the Berlin PO concert last night and it's been a memorable week altogether with the Sibelius concerts too. Radio 3 have really dished up the goods this week and I've hardly had my CD player in operation! More please!

Last Thursday was my 25th anniversary of working at my firm. I started at the bottom and it's been downhill thereafter! Well, the day was marked with a presentation by the MD who said in a card that my 'hard work and loyalty has been an inspiration to my team colleagues'. Where does he get such tripe from??? Still, it's all a game to them and words come cheap. Don't like all the presentation malarkey as it's all hypocritical anyway.

Back to another week of it tomorrow!

Evening all, late to the party after a very busy day.
Look forward to catching up on the Berlin Philharmonic concerts and the Rattle documentary.

A bit fed up with the football, a somewhat tame effort by the Foxes and yet another defeat. We really can concentrate on the League now - and do we need to!

John McCabe a most sad loss.
