WEll yes Alison and here it is! Myself, Mrs BBM and my parents, went toa rather good organ recital, yesterday afternoon, by the Worth Abbey Chuirch Organist d'arcy Trenkwon. he has recorded a cd on Hyperion, incidentally. This was a very cartefully chosen programme of Lenten Music.

These Sunday nights come round far too quickly! Feeling down that Monday is looming large again but cheer up when I think about having the Easter break coming up. I'm off on Friday and next Monday so will be good to have two four day weeks.

Back in the days when I studied A level economics, (!!) all the talk was about how we would cope with the leisure society, 3 day working weeks etc.

Well governments sorted THAT out good and proper.
I could cope with a 3 day week no problem.

Anyway, good thoughts, Pet. Remembered today that I booked 4 days off Easter week, and a day in lieu of today on Maundy Thursday, so happy days !!
Thankfully I have lots of Myaskovsky, Schumann, and all the recommendations on the "here and Now " thread to keep me out of mischief.
And a fence to mend and paint.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

A Sunday night in - only my second evening in the past eight days not spent at the opera! Fantastic variety of things seen and a good 6,000 words penned as a result, but grateful to put my feet up and watch a little test cricket and catch up with some news discs to come my way.

Feeling in upbeat mood and looking forward to Easter.

Die Fledermaus and Frank Bridge the Sea lined up for in car listening tomorrow.

Listening to the Liverpool Mahler 10: am I with Bryn or JLW ?

As I'm now bordering on my 6th decade I've become a bit preoccupied with time - or to be more precise, the lack of it. All I seem to be doing is spending the day at work, a couple of hours of music and then bed. There are so many books to read, so much music to hear, so many places to see, friends to catch up with and barely time to do any of it. I begrudge the time I give to work (40 years is enough for anybody) but short of finding an alternative part-time job nearer home there's not a lot I can do about it. Usual Sunday night thoughts, these.

Never far from my turn table.
Play LOUD ,as they used to say.
Re Mahler 10, I just can't get past loving it.
I suppose I should discriminate more.

Sunday night winding down from the dog's 1st birthday party. A nice chicken cooked in beer (preceded by a glass - or two - of Prosecco). The dog is winding down too, having over-indulged in birthday cake (he helped himself to half of it before the party)

You surely haven't tried hard enough Edgers. You attack those British music CDs with much greater gusto I suspect.

                                So pretty bad you are.
