I feel like Billy no mates here at the Sunday night club.
Having had to do some work today, this evening I've been engrossed re-watching some of the Alan Bennett material - the observational programme in the Harrogate hotel has a sort of lugubriously witty fascination (I must have seen it 2 or 3 times before)... esp the agonising yet funny scene where a dignitary's wife is stuck next to the mayor of their twin town from southern France, who talks to her (in French, with a heavy southern accent) and she responds with a strained little repertoire of generalised smiles but clearly utter incomprehension, concluding with 'Well I'm glad you came'... real courtesy but heart-breaking somehow!
Also reorganising one of the SD cards for the car's music system, getting the Stanford 2nd concerto on there plus some other titbits...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
A great weekend of glorious sunshine, successfully booking my Proms, a small but profitable win on the horses on Saturday ,,, and then it's Monday morning again

Was hoping to catch some, any ,live music up here, but nothing much I can find.
Nontheless, it really is beautiful here, and a weeks sightseeing is in prospect.
Thanks for the playoffs update, Alison.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
Stunning weather, been outdoors most of the weekend, dogs and grandkids.
Well done Pet,with the horses and Proms tickets.
I've never been to a Prom,it's on my bucket list,I do think this years offerings are a little uninspiring though, apart form a couple of concerts.
I'd rather have a seaon ticket for that English music festival, subject of another thread.
I get to work from home most Mondays and Fridays nowadays,it's still work though, without the added hassle of battling the Manchester traffic and the office politics, but still with the Sunday evening depression.
Hi Alison, sounds like you had a super weekend.
Yep really pleased for Cambridge United,I had a punt on 3-1 though (and Arsenal 2-1).
Now the footy season is over might be tapping you and Pet up for horsey tips.

A very pleasant weekend in the Cotswolds with some fine music in the car.
I am very taken with Mahler 1 LPO/Jurowski, a fresh and youthful account conveying the sense of a live concert experience.
Great to see Cambridge United back in the league.
Hope your computer is ok now Pet.
Yes, computer seems fine now, Alison, touch wood. It was a real worry coming so close to Proms booking day but all successfully negotiated.
My small win on Saturday came from a horse called Cannock Chase. I have not so very fond memories of the place, around 20 miles from here, but the horse gave me some cash and is definitely one to watch.

Wot, no caterwhauling and squeezeboxes? Back south for World on 3 Fridays then... and trees...
Good evening Alison and all Sunday nighters.
Sorry I'm late,I've got a note, been catching up with last Friday's English music festival concert on catch up.
I hope the Chelmsford branch is better than the Manchester one,a shadow of it's former self as fas as classical is concerned.
Yep last Friday was a cracker.
Very happy with my shiny new box of all 17 Weinberg String Quartets
