I'm not surprised. Very impressive and goes to show that real imagination and flair are still possible in the core repertoire. Bravo to all concerned but a black mark for the Decca marketing department for making the discs impossible to get out of the book/folder without touching the edges with your fingers. Who designs these things?

      Good evening Sunday nighters.

Hope you are all managing to enjoy some Xmas pressie discs, once you have got into the boxes.

Getting in is no problem. Getting the discs out is the really hard bit. There is no option other than to use the fingers and that includes fingernails

Had two smashed CD cases as well amongst the pile from Santa but easily replaced.

I ordered some CDs today, knowing that in a couple of days my annual resolution (buy fewer CDs) will come into force. This year I got to about April before succumbing. A gap in my collection - Shosty jazzy stuff.

            No, that gap needs filling.

Perhaps you could " Do a Tom Huddlestone", and cut down on the buying when something specific happens, like maybe Man city lose 5 in a row at home or something.

Yes - Decca managed to squeeze Kyung Wha Chung's marvellous recordings of both of the Prokofiev Concertos on with her Stravinsky.

51 minutes is pretty short measure .

Sod's Law. When I wanted to buy more, I couldn't afford it. I do have completist tendencies and with mortgage and kids gone, internet buying and cheap priced box sets I could afford it and did not hold back. Now I have groaning shelves with a load of great stuff which I just haven't done justice to.

First Sunday of the New Year. Spent most of it putting all the CDs in their proper place on the shelves: took me hours, but when I'd done it all looked fabulous. Went to make myself a cup of tea to celebrate - and found all the Schubert, Schumann and Schutz discs out on the landing table where I'd put them for safekeeping.

                          No internet problem here.

It's now back to a full week at work and no holidays on the horizon until Gold Cup day at Cheltenham though will try and fit something in before then.

I loathe this time of year

Its a system. I think you should post a photo of this CD organisational loveliness when the 3 S's are back in their place, Ferney !!

I am currently missing the odd thing, including a box for a 2 CD Ives Symphonies set. It's around. Somewhere.

Spent the spare bits of the day burning Downloads from the Unsung Composers site, and delving into Varese for the first time. Unbelievable stuff. Truly amazing.

Pet, I'm sorry to hear this time of year is such a trial for you. I think you are not alone.
