No but I like yours - the final movement of 7 has always struck me as Christmassy

Plugging away with the Critics Choice from 14th - see post just now... kind-of

I always start my seasonal listening on the 24th with the Christmassy part of The Messiah - which is under half of the whole work.

I think I must've played Messiah a couple of times and JSB's Christmas Oratorio quite a few times as well!!

Has BBM been on the sauce? Or is it just post-Spooner syndrome?

Back to work tomorrow for me. New Year's Eve sorted - drinks round next door neighbours. Saves having to travel. Quite an enjoyable day with Leicester beating Bolton, a bit of shopping in town (including two new CDs) and a chance to do some serious listening. I enjoyed Christmas but its good to suddenly have less tasks to get done.

What are your new CDs, Alison? I've recently bought a Harmonia Mundi disc of Brahms' Horn Trio, with Teunis van der Zwart playing a natural horn - terrific sound, I gave it a spin earlier.

I went back to work last Friday and the only day off next week is New Year's Day.

Never mind, we have been given a 3% pay rise (first in three years) but train fare is going up 2.6%!

Still got plenty of listening to do with presents from Santa.

I was happy to find the recent Kopatchinskaja Prokofiev/Stravinsky disc in HMV and also a Shura Cherkassky live recital from 1971. Your Brahms sounds good iGI.

I've just been sent Kopatchinskaja's disc for review! I wish it included Prokofiev's First Violin Concerto.

Yes indeed re Prokofiev 1. I have always loved the Stravinsky though. Splendid to have the LPO and Jurowski on board too.
