Enjoying a really good lazy day, now about to catch up with some of the Starkey series, only caught the first one so far. Not in an LvB mood, it's been a Mahler 7 weekend (about which a thread may appear at some point soon)...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

My first check in after a few Sundays off. Am listening to a highly impressive if slightly soulless LvB 9.

Look forward to a Mahler 7 thread. Feeling ok about work tomorrow after a fortnight away.

Yes, twin destination break taking in Somerset and Norfolk ! Have missed a few Proms but will make up for lost time now.

Must say I quite enjoyed a break from the Internet and machines in general. Lovely to be back nonetheless.

Have bought an I Pad for the first time so likely to be having more playtime than usual

well that wouldn't be difficult !!
But yes, Its music I like to get to grips with from time to time....although I have got rather more out of the Rias set so far

Buy Various Composers by Neue Wiener Schule from Amazon's Classical Music Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders.

The download is a steal. (you could try it on that shiny new ipad.....!!)

but its all work in progress, and is hopefully helping to stop work atrophy overcoming the old mind tank !!

Actually settled for Messiaen " Vingt Regards sur L'enfant Jesus" . Austbo. Captivating music.

Yes, Vingt Regards desert island material for me.

To hear a live performance was one of my most treasured concert hall experiences.

I have so much to learn.........but it would be sad if there wasn't lots to learn !

A drive to Minehead tomorrow affords a chance of a good long blast of Wagner, (more work in progress).

must check out the plot before I set off !

I should think that concert performances of Vingt Regards are reasonably thin on the ground.

Hope you had a good fortnight away, Alison. Noticed you'd been quiet lately and hoped there was nothing more sinister about your absence!

No luck on the horses lately so dropped the tips for a bit to see if matters improve. There is too much racing on a Saturday afternoon and it's proving very difficult to find those winners!

My feelings exactly on the Petrenko LvB 9. Do try to catch the Jansons Mahler 2 to see what you think.

Riches indeed teams - the Austbo set is very good in my opinion

Obviously too much good music going on to allow for sunday night nattering.
Hey ho, have a good week all, and enjoy your music. A week off afterthe bank holiday for me, and every chance of a prom this week. The weather looks ok, and the saints have a new 12 milion pound striker.

Sorry Sainty, an exceptionally busy Sunday induced sleep as soon as head met pillow. Enjoyed a trip to the Shard.

Big signing for your lot ! Pleased with Leicester City form so far.

                                Perhaps you're at tonight's Prom !
