Johnson's Dictionary : "CELIBACY. n. s. [from cœlebs, Lat.] Single life; unmarried state"

I suspect you are confusing 'celibate' with 'chaste'...

            .

I hope that m'learned friend is not making the schoolboy error of permitting a scholar to refer to his own work as an independent authority

I love the way on this recording that she breaks free of the rigid singing format in the reprise and starts to (s)wing it - Ella Fitzgerald cited Connie Boswell as one of her major influences - how is that?!

roll around soon enough, don't they?
Back to work for me tomorrow.
Bit of Sunday night Schumann and Villa Lobos
There are some many great recommendations on this board for music to listen to,that the time available just isn't enough.

And now all that french C20 stuff is going to get all fashionable round here......oh well, better too much than too little !
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

That's the spirit, TS: eat, drink, be merry and listen to neglected French composers, for tomorrow we.... go back to work!

well said, S_A.Although I don't know if we should be thanking you or blaming you !!

Actually on a semi serious note, the info on here can be rather overwhelming, what with SC's journey, Neglected British/yanks etc/jazz !!
Could you just do one lesson a week, please , with say 2 works. That would help the newbie settle in at a sensible pace.
                        Just asking, like !!

Last year, there was a weekly board BaL during the Proms. How does this work? Does everyone get to choose a work or do the hosts decide? I ask because I enjoyed reading them (I wasn't a member at that time, a mere 'lurker'), and these type of threads often provoke a lot of interest/debate/unusual recordings, etc., as Brahms 2 shows.

Good question. Trying to think which work I would like to discuss. Beethoven's Fourth maybe..
