    Orchestral Conservatism:....

    >>>" we don't want to just play the trumpet. We don't just want to play the drums. We don't just want to play the violin. A great political party is an orchestra, capable of many tunes and determined to occupy the whole stage. We need to walk and chew gum at the same time."<<< Conservative Home (strange change of metaphor at end)

    >>>"We need a full spectrum, big orchestral, across-the-stage Conservatism."<<<(this quote , para 4 leads to full blog)....

....no mention of oboes and picolos??....and what of conductor....????....

And none of not wanting to play Rule, Britannia either, as long as the party leader remains unable correctly to identify its composer...

Next time round, the coalition might be a triangle. Lib-Lab-Green? Tory-UKIP-BNP?

I rather liked the precision of this prediction based on a statistical trend over 80 years or so. It seems slightly on the low side and some of the statements sound over-confident, but the conclusion still seems plausible. Now just to come up with figures for the other parties (UKIP might be a bit tricky)....

The Kippers don't have any policies about culture apart from some nebulous nonsense about "Britishness" (which I guess includes Handel ? )
so it's a lonely busker rather than an orchestra

I don't know for certain, but I haven't heard of any; mind you, I do wonder if Mr Barrage, unlike a certain other UK political party leader whom one could mention, actually does know the identity of the composer of the music for Rule, Britannia. Handel? Händel? Why, of course! "Hurrah for Harry, England and King George", as the old saying more or less goes; apart, perhaps, from those other distinguished British composers Holst, van Dieren and Delius, you can't really get a whole lot more "British" than that, can you?! That said, the Kipper leader, being a bloomin' furriner, might claim to have somewhat more of an association with kippers than at first seems apparent (http://www.houseofnames.com/farage-family-crest).
