And I spelled it correctly too, but notice that Jeremy didn't finish spellling it out!

I didn't do so well on that - I mistook the Schubert for Haydn. Perhaps I should become more familiar with it.

Another breathtaking display of ignorance of classical music by the Classic FM presenter. She blamed a cold... and pleaded 'Don't look at me like that, Jeremy'

It was truly astonishing, wasn't it! Admittedly her degree was in English Literature, and she answered some very detailed questions on literature in the first round. But for someone who earns a living presenting a "Classical Music" programme - well, makes me a little more appreciative of R3.

(They're probably drawing up a contract for her as we speak!)

He's got no right to look at anybody like that after the Dvořák Requiem/Plainsong debacle.

That Classic FM participant knows nothing about classical music! Goodness! I answered all but one of the music questions, as I am not well up with the operas of Rimsky-Korsakov.

Along with the general sense of incompetence and submissiveness to higher orders one senses ubiquitously these days, all these presumably high-paid presenters don't half leave one feeling bitter at the number of jobs one was qualified but turned down for.

... but it'll be Reading that gets remembered more than any winner ever!

(Particularly embarrassing for Pippa Greenwood, not getting the latin name of the Chestnut tree!)

The Rimsky was hard - and I hadn't a clue. However, not knowing that Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony is called the Pathétique, is almost inexcusable - and could have made a very significant difference to the final outcome. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge could have worked that out without hearig a note.

                                Ah well - it's only a game!
