There were two questions which were questionable last night - one of them involving a cathedral in "East Anglia", when the correct answer was Peterborough - is Peterborough in E. Anglia? I think not! - and the other for which the wrong answer given was Odysseus, the right one being Ulysses??? Weren't both the very same person?
It was also noticeable that Paxman gave the teams far less time to collectively decide on answers than has been the case in previous weeks.

Yes I noticed Odysseus/Ulysses - I've forgotten the question, was there a reference to a specific text requiring the Latin version? Can't be bothered to look again. I thought the dithering interminable last night - some teams/captains just can't bear to say "we don't know" regardless of the time ticking away.....

Confident mastery of Russian first symphonies from the Newcastle team this week
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

            - the lass wasn't guessing, either: she knew the answers. Another whitewash week, too!

Both the middle two knew their DSCH as well (but all were hopeless on 'popular beat combos' ... )

Yes a bleak night for Yorkshire...

You mods really got time to idle your evenings away in front of the telly now?.........

( I once got a sculpture starter for 10 before either team, which rather surprised and impressed Mrs TS, I can tell you.)
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Neilsen was impressive in many ways, wasn't she? Loved her attitude when asked 'which Bruegel?'

Paxo looked a bit smitten. Not a sneer in sight......

                          For all practical purposes, Derbyshire.

Oh dear. Das Jahr by Fanny Mendelssohn was beyond my ken. Also all but one of the quotes by Brahms. A bit tough for UC, I thought.
In general terms, the captain of the Strathclyde team was pretty much on the ball.

Indeed. Quite difficult. Nobody could be expected to know the Fanny M, and you had a 1 in 12/11/10 [is that right?] chance of guessing it.

With two such good teams the chances of coming back as a high scoring loser are less unless Paxo gets through more questions.....
