That must make you an umpteen ager then, gurney!

I think Durham has a chance if they win twice more...according to UC's arcane system.

Same here. It sometimes happens I can get a piece from just the first chord, but Kohn got that one before my ears had even registered the first chord

I’m backing the winners this week (15/2) to get the title. Pretty dazzling and seemingly delightful people too.

Yes they were very good this week, but they have already lost twice, so not unbeatable. Their captain was very quick on the buzzer though!

I think Warwick will be very hard to beat this year.

I agree; Imperial have been quite inconsistent this year. When they've been good, and the starter questions have fallen well for them (and for their captain in particular), they appear all but unstoppable. But the two contests they lost were not at all close, and they were well beaten. They could still win, but they would need some luck to do so. I don't think they are as astonishing as last year's winning team.

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Very true, both (inc Rolmill). But I like their style! And their skipper knows his music!

Do science students know more about the Arts than vice-versa?

I don't know, though I've often heard it said that mathematicians like the music of JS Bach more than do lovers of 19th century Romantic music because of what they see as its objectivity and logic.

Yes, and the bigger defeat was to Warwick. I agree with NA though that they come across very well (inclusive, non-arrogant, seem to be enjoying themselves) and I would be pleased if they progress.

I suppose a science student is more likely to read Dickens or listen to Mozart than an arts student is to memorise the periodic table in his spare time.

One is reminded of C.P. Snow's The two Cultures.

A very good music round in Monday’s contest, again featuring Mr Kohn!

The speed with which he identified the Faure piece was quite astonishing; he certainly knows his music.

                                A pleasant change!

On this week’s Mastermind the Crimson King did well and his gk was good too.
