Some amusing tweets on the end of Kerry Andrew's [it's OK she outs herself good and proper this week] genius University Challenged blog - Wolverine . What's that about Bob Dylan singing "Raindrops..." ferney? I didn't do too well this week tho I did get the BD questions, Jacques-Louis David, Gore Vidal, and the music.....

I did quite well, personal score of 110... Messed up two of the music questions though (wasn't quick enough with one, the student did very well to recognise it so quickly; and shamefully failed in classical symphony recognition )
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I, too, had an embarrassing slip-up on the last musical extract, ending up a few hundred miles away (I'd better not say in what direction )

... is keeping one's personal score of success as a spectator of University Challenge a definition of sad, or is it a definition of sad?

                .

                  .
And does Cali allow himself 5 points for bonus points if he hasn't got the starter right, or points for any starter and any bonus? Personally (as another saddo) I think the latter, it's a bit unfair if having failed to answer a question on the periodic table you are thereby unable to answer bonus points on, e.g., David, or British seabirds.

Oh yes, points for any damn thing you get right

Well if the people I know who keep score, and I, are sad, then I'm very happy to be a member of Sad Club

Caught up with the programme yesterday evening. Did ok with the classical music ones, and some of the others, which I think ugh this were fairly easy.

A truly amazing performance by one particular contestant tonight - I'll say no more!
NB: No programme next week - athletics!

Kerry's blog in full swing. Indeed, spectacular performance by the tank top, one to watch. At least I got Egmont......

Athletics - enough sport already . It should be on a separate channel.

Another one-sided but absorbing contest - Kerry Andrew's brilliant blog says it all.

One howler among the bird questions - I'm sure Jezza said, as a clue, that Fulica atra was smaller than a moorhen. Coots are of course larger than moorhens, as any fule no.
