Indeed - but confusing Schönberg with Bax must be a first - and so confidently, too!
Nah - they were all easy enough - the hardest being the Dvořák cello piece which didn't sound quite as typical of the composer as some of his other works.

I thought the Tchaikovsky would have been tricky? I am glad they played Bax

I got that one straightaway - but the team's apparent bewilderment undermined my self-confidence. (Some very higgerent post-graduates among all these Christmas specials so far. And the CFM presenter who couldn't identify either Rossini or Mendelssohn - even though, as Paxo declared, "They play this stuff all the time on CFM!" )

They didn't. An extract from Verklaerte Nacht was paid and TS confidently - to judge by his vigorous nodding to the team captain - declared it to be by Bax!

Even I got three of those correct, much to my surprise.
The series has been running in parallel with Celebrity Mastermind.
I was especially interested to see how Pam Ayres fared given all the rumours and denials from her that she was once in British Intelligence.
She won.
(Perhaps we could have one thread for the other quizzes - I follow Pointless, Eggheads, Mastermind, RBQ, Brain of Britain and dip into others)

I saw the Celeb Mastermind when Philip Serrel won almost unopposed! It's worrying how so many under 45s seem to have zilch general knowledge. Perhaps we oldies were pumped full of useless facts from an early age and now clog up memory space at the expense of things we need to know to survive in C21st.

Yes, I saw that one too.
I don't know.
My assumption is that they all know much more because of the internet but frequently that turns out not to be the case.
A higher percentage of them might be more target motivated.

Just caught up with a couple of these, had similar thoughts! (What was the Tchaikovsky again? Can't remember if I got it right!)
I found the Magnificats question in Friday's episode tough (other than the starter)...
Deliberately missed the one with Service (the black-list still holds in this house). Did his team make it through to the next round?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Did you see The Darkness on Celeb Pointless - knew nothing and singing was dreadful - I quite liked their Christmas No 1 before that - either his voice has deteriorated or it was tweeked in the studio for the original.
Rather enjoying this series. Good that there was those selections of Magnificats. I was quite pleased I knew the Arvo Part, but he does have that rather individual style?
