...well, when the need arises I'm sure that Chatham House, RUSI, and IISS will be able to find ahinton to benefit from his lucubrations

I'm sure that any of these would easily be able to find me if so they chose, but when and why would any of these organisations think to do this, especially given that what you describe as "lucubrations" are in fact personal viewpoints?

Crikey, I'm glad young Oscar didn't get this question, doesn't bear thinking about.

There's a few here who could give him a run for his money!

Having been very pleased with myself and got full marks on both sets of Film questions, the mood was a little disrupted when the Thomas Pynchon question came up. Now I knew the title was Mason & Dixon, and that was what I meant when I called out ...

You might just have been able to forgive yourself had you instead called out Mason & Hamlin...

I read that as lubrications. But I'm sure ahinton never takes too much drink.

Might the fact that I didn't read it thus but as vints typed it suggest that I must at least have been relatively sober when I did so?(!).

I do indeed try never to imbibe excessively and, for the record, never touch any kind of beer or lager and avoid most (but not all!) spirits, I am by no means teetotal (not that you suggested that I am); I am a Scotsman, after all (although I am not scotty!)...

Paxo on last night's UC (just caught up): Fewer than two minutes to go!

                          That'll be one minute then!

I noticed that ! (Having been pilloried somewhere hereabouts for misuse of 'fewer' / 'less'!! )

Final a bit one sided, sadly. Peterhouse worthy winners, but maybe St John's not getting into their stride?
