I made a decision years ago NOT to become a company and NOT to do the whole VAT thing
      why complicate things ?
and I DO work in multiple countries etc but it's really not that complicated and it certainly wouldn't be any easier with a "business" bank account which would just create more cashflow problems
Not everyone can "decide" not to "do the VAT thing" (unfortunately) whether or not they decide to incorporate, although I've fond a way to extricate myself from the VAT thing and, like yourself, endeavour to keep matters as simple as possible; on this we most certainly agree.

Keep politics out of this. Why are you obsessed with the EU?

Merely feigning politeness by inserting "please" before your second repetition doesn't do you any favours either and you still haven't said where, when, for how long or why - or even what good it might do you (if any).

I don't have a house number but the mailing address that you presumably need in order to send me your unbounceable cheque (and, in the absence of any other evidence, I have to assume that this is why you want me to give you that information) may be found on my website at www.sorabji-archive.co.uk. By the way, I do not and indeed would not expect you to send such a cheque without your ordering some music or such like...

Thank you very much in advance and good night!

If you turn over enough for that you can certainly afford to pay someone to sort it out for you.

Because the EU paid for my latest electroacoustic composition (Westmalle Trippel)

I didn't divulge whether or not I personally turn over a sum in excess of the VAT registration threshold; I merely pointed out that many of those who do so do not have that choice available to them whilst at the same time pointing out that I have a way around that kind of thing that works for me and is legal and above board.

Jimmy Carr said a similar thing to me as well

But, if so, one clockwise and the other counter-clockwise, surely?

Anyway, I am unaware that history has recorded that the latter tried to bribe the former with a large cheque to ensure the reinstatement of the Eroica dedication (mon Dieu, what a way to try to return to the topic!)...

Was that among the useful tips that he gave you?

By the way, I omitted to mention that one doesn't pay professional to sort out one's business accounts out of turnover as you appeared to suggest above; one does it out of profits and, as Amaztarbucks et al surely know better than most, turnover and profit can be two very different things.

well, that must surely be the most bonkers saturday night MB exchange of all time.

                                Excellent work all round!
