    Nothing in particular

Yesterday, I attended a local fair and became so engrossed in things that I lost track of time. It was in the mid afternoon that I felt somewhat famished and repaired to a stall selling pasties.

"Good afternoon - you know, I'm so hungry I could eat a horse."
"Well, Squire" says the man in the boater, "you're in luck; I'm just back from Tesco with a new lot of mince!"

It was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it in the knowledge that the equine ingredient has yet to kill anyone whereas the NHS has bumped people off in the thousands.

Blame (partly) the effects of successive government 'reforms'. A guy called Malcolm Alexander said in a radio interview the other week that one effect of these has been the abolition or emasculation of bodies such as Patient Forums which helped to maintain quality in the NHS, and on which patients and other members of the general public were represented. This has received precious little publicity.
