I'm sure Scotty will correct me if I'm wrong, but they already have secured the wine. Catholics don't get the wine during the Eucharist (unless it's a wedding or something very special). Only the priest gets the wine... Oh! that's the point, isn't it?

That said, don't you think that a Scottish Pope - provided that he (it would have to be a he, would it not, even today?) wasn't the kind of "conservative" that's widely anticipated the fill Ratso's worn-out shoes - might seek to bring about a change here by ordering the sale of all the stocks of communion wine and using the proceeds to purchase communion single malt to replace it?

Unfortunately I think that anybody in the position to become the first (?) Scottish Pope is likely to be even more conservative than Benni.

In fact, you will see very conservative Catholics ostentatiously bypassing the chalice and going straight back to their seats after having received the wafer (on the tongue, of course).

These same people will also probably refuse to receive communion from a woman, even though she's only handing it out and has not presumed to attempt to consecrate it.
