I think I may have spoilt it for Anna by supplying the punchline, Caliban.
It was a silly joke that I remember doing the rounds at Junior School (what knowing children we were!) anyway this Pope business has got me intrigued and I am off to watch live coverage and find out who it is!
Well, BBC has
"The pontifical band has stopped playing and crowds are now awaiting the formal announcement of the 266th pope from the balcony of St Peter's Basilica".
Good grief! What were they playing? The Gary Howarth arrangement of Pictures at an Exhibition? Selections from Gilbert & Sullivan? Arriverderci Roma? The Vatican Rag? Or were they just pretending to be the Italian arm of El Sistina?
Anyway, the identity of the new Pontiff will shortly be known and then people who care can continue to go about their business, I suppose. That said, I genuinely wish him well and hope that, in the end, he'll do enough to encourage reform of the Church's stances on sexual and psychological abuse, the rôle of women in society in general and the Church in particular, abortion, contraception, priests' celibacy and entitlement to marry, recognition of divorce and all the rest of it although, sadly, I ain't holdin' me breath...

I wonder if this, as reports have said, the next Pope would come outside of Europe? With this Cardinal from South America being outspoken about the Vatican bank and other Cardinals applauding his actions, would this sway to his favour?
Although i was sayin that i thought the next pope would be from South America, Well, goodness! look how it has turned out!
Don’t cry for me

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
I find it boring but I'd stick something on if the all-seeing eye of the 'maestro came up with a name...
But no matter... Just have to earn an honest crust instead!
