Yes, my theory is that this is what happens when "they" (I think we all know who "they" are) get presented with simple facts and then get stuck for any sort of meaningful response, Mr Pee ...

It's the way "they" all pile in together when yet another of their pet assumptions is completely shattered in a sort of bizarre UNITED WE FALL! statement of defiance usually with vague and irrelevant references to wholly unconnected subjects.

It's really quite extraordinary and I've noticed it occurring on quite a number of occasions ...

There was certainly plenty of fine music written by catholics in the past, but the quality of music in the average catholic church today is abysmal, and very little of the great music from the past gets performed at parish level.Mind you, the C of E is often just as bad. If Mozart went to church today, I doubt if he would wish to commit any of it to memory.
