Not quite; what's passed you by is that the word "song" is widely treated (by some people, usually of the younger generation) as though it's been redefined whereas in fact it hasn't, other (perhaps) than for them...

If he really does that, I wonder if he'll still be around in 60 years' time to witness the 60th anniversary of the coronation of QEII?

House Rules (at the risk of displacing Am51 as duty monitor )

'Do not use offensive language' (in the generally, widely accepted, meaning of "offensive").

        Please.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Has there been any here recently? More specifically, do I need to remove or amend (or maybe even try to redefine) anything that I've posted here that might be regarded as offensive?

Child gets ill - see your point about not being able to have children, make yer bleedin' mind up

And so on? Read, frig-all that you can think of.

End of the world - No, but end of marriage as we know it Jim

Musical theatre? I think you'll find that gay people have contributed quite a bit more to this world than entertainment and music.

Politics and ideology has so much to answer for

Er - the availability of civil partnerships to some and marriage to others constitutes / represents "equality", does it? On such a basis, it would appear that the word that might need redefining is "equality", not "marriage"...

Anyway, to what extent does it matter now, after the event? The attempt to defeat the legislation in HoL has been scuppered and so, like France (a country where some might have expected a good deal less than in Britain in terms of the possible success of same sex marriage legislation), same sex marriage is here to stay until and unless some future government successfully contrives to overturn the legislation that enables it.
Not quite scuppered yet, Ahinton. There is still a committee stage to come in the Lords, and there will no doubt be further attempts to defeat the bill. The sheer nastiness that some of these unelected representatives are capable of is odious to behold. They certainly do not represent me, or I hope many others.

I do not understand why a gay couple would wish to declare such a commitment in an institution that is almost universally opposed to such relationships in the first place. It's like a vegan applying to work in a slaughterhouse.
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

Not lost the plot. Not dodgey language - I swore, that's all. The word is on the public TV system for all to hear, so relax.

so the flower fairy worshippers can do their own thing afterwards , like what happens in most countries

I'm looking forward to the end of society though , i've long been keen on the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch set to a soundtrack by Diamanda Galas

Your knowledge of the wide variety of gay people excuses your massive ignorance, Mr Pee. There are plenty of gay Christians, Jews, Muslims etc.
