Whatever one might think of scottycelt, there must be some attraction in debating with his weirdly mediaeval outlook (if he really holds the often bizarre opinions he posts here!) since people keep coming back for more... whereas Mandryka is a different matter altogether. R3ok members who post here will remember that he has already been banned there (under a different Straussian screen name), principally for indisputably offensive personal attacks on a (gay) member of that forum.

I appreciate that - but shouldn't it involve deleting the original too?

I realise it's problematic writing about the banned but if you are reading this scottycelt (a) please stay (b) I would happily bet that if the roles had been reversed and the majority view here was yours Mandryka's contributions would have been the exact opposite of those he's offered on this thread.

P.S. You could always start a Bruckner thread. I love Bruckner . The thing with Platform 3, of course, very interesting though it often is, is the notorious Someone's Wrong on the Internet syndrome. http://www.drewmelbourne.com/blog/wp...n-internet.png To which I plead guilty .

Oh there is ... and he does, and I shall deeply miss his contributions if he does decide to leave the Forum - it won't be nearly the same.

I didn't know this, and find such behaviour competely deplorable.

I too should miss you scotty. I hope you think again. I think we've corresponded on Scots ancestry before:

                Here's tae us,
                There's nae like us,
                etc....

I hope you can be persuaded otherwise, scotty.

Well, if he doesn't reconsider now, I don't know what's to be done, really! But surely reason - and scotty - will prevail...

                        scotty,

You are like my good catholic friend Anne. We argue the toss about religion, I back off if it upsets her, and we both have another glass.

                        Bws.

Bloody heck! I'm in agreement with ahinton. This must mean it's definitely wrong for Scotty to go!!!

Hey, you don't expect me to go quite that easily, do you ...?

Thanks for all your kind sentiments, especially from those with whom I've invariably found myself in deep disagreement, in the past. I think the current state of the Scotland football team and the fact that there is not a Bruckner symphony broadcast daily on R3 finally got to me yesterday!

I'm now a reformed character and won't be contributing to any more threads such as this and any at all on the subject of religion (there is no fool like an old fool!) though I shall continue to post on other matters and, more importantly, learn from others on this excellent Forum. It is crammed full with far too many interesting, intelligent and witty people to suddenly decide it's not for me. How silly and self-defeating that would be ...

Now, thank you all again and it's back to business!
