Come on Scotty
just give it up
you know your church is wrong on this
and it really isn't such a big deal
so just stop fretting about it
no one is going to make you into a homosexual
and the daft cardinal isn't going to be pope
so open another bottle of Bucky and enjoy the evening
Forum members don't necessarily follow the same evening's recreation as (it might appear) that of your very goodself, Mr GG ...

Of course , its "lent"
so you are down in the shed with a hair shirt shivering in the cold
and praying for a Scottish pope .............. "naturally" of course
I know three children brought up by gay parents - all in very warm and secure environments...
I know two gay couples who have adopted - one male, one female (I don't hold with this ridiculous reserving of gay for men).
The men, who have three adopted children, are acknowledged to be so good at it that (and I am not making this up) they have been asked to take a special role in mentoring other prospective adoptive parents, mostly heterosexual.
I'll grant you your use of the word 'pontificate' in the Cathoilc sense, scotty but what an arrogant thing to say. I was brought up by one bigot and a fairly reasonable father and I wish I had been in a more supportive educated environment. You really don't know much about people, do you scotty ...
You were brought up by a 'bigot'? ... really? ... crikey ... and, yes, I suppose it must be true that I've never met any people throughout my life, amsey ... if that's what the 'evidence' suggests I suppose I'll just have to accept the 'findings' ..

My guess is that you've met people like you, scotty whereas most lesbains and gay men tend to meet people unlike them and so have a broader range of inputs

Lesbians fought very hard in the early 1970s to be termed as such and not to be assimilated into the term 'gay' because they knew full-well that using the term 'gay' would mean the marginalisation of gay women. To this day you will find letters to newspapers that refer to 'homosexuals and gay women'. Confusion? Not 'alf

I find the last statement totally sexist against women and almost heterophobic ...

Are you 'guessing' that I've never met any gay or lesbian people, amsey... ?
Hmmm, if your 'guess' is right it's back to that damned drawing-board again ...
Heterosexual parents are the natural order of things, I'm afraid ... don't blame me, take it up with the God Creation/God Evolution (delete as preferred).
Zoological infanticide is also part of "the natural order of things", but I'm not sure that makes it a good parenting model .
I don't have any personal interest in this conversation though I'm interested in it - but why do you think reproductive biology is so significant when it comes to adoptive parenthood? If a couple adopt a child they aren't the child's biological parents.

Well, a heterosexual couple are a 'natural' and clearly the most apt substitute ... like a knife and a fork are a natural substitute for a knife and a fork rather than a knife and a knife or a fork and a fork, or for that matter a single knife or single fork?
I must say, scottycelt, I admire the fact that you are prepared to stand up for your beliefs on this forum, despite the vicious invective that is spewed your way. It seems to me that many who complain about prejudice and intolerance would do well to look in the mirror once in a while.
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

Never a truer word said. In my life, I've found left-field people are anti-democratic and extremely intolerant. Such bullies too.

Hello Scotty Do you mean to give only two possibilities - God Creation/God Evolution - even though both have their adherents? It seems a shame to ignore the one that is actually supported by evidence - evolution by natural selection.
