Well, I for one am struggling to do so but I have nevertheless tried to argue the case and challenge comments that need challenging in as polite a manner as I am able.

In fact, it occurs to me that this thread's so tailor-made for Mandryka that it's a wonder that it was initiated by someone else!

Not strictly true - contempt is an alternative - but one can try.

Mr GG, you might want to edit your message, which, thanks to Simon's inept editing in his reply to Sydney, attributes Simon's nonsense to poor Syd.

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

How utterly convenient for you, Mandy. Well I was not so fortunate

You don't have to drive very far to be reminded that there are some daft folk about.

As concise and accurate a statement as has ever appeared on this site!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Indeed - one doesn't actually have to drive anywhere to figure that one out!

If you 'choose' to live on them, then you enter into certain obligations toward the state, in return for the generosity it has extended to you.

And that, however much the liberals whinge, is a fact.
Rather dispiriting but not altogether unexpected to see the usual culprits clambering up their hill to their perceived 'moral' high ground over this and jumping down Mandrycka's throat.

We can all speak from personal experience. I will give two examples known to me that support Mandryka's statement.

One local family, five children, no-one disabled, both parents physically capable of work and yet neither have worked (through choice) for the last twenty years. Somehow they have managed to wing the system and claim benefit for all this time. That is simply wrong.

Second family, single mother, eight children. When she's had a few in the pub, she refers to them as Inc(ome) 1, Inc(ome) 2. Again, that's abusing the system and taking money away from more deserving families.

                            Two sides to every coin.

Both MrGG and I were writing from personal experience, RM. It take a special sort of twazzock to argue the toss about someone's personal experience and fortunately you are not of that ilk, unlike the weight lifter

You are conflating (which is exactly what the politicians want you to do !) this with something that is entirely unconnected
why is it that when ever anyone with a disability is mentioned as needing assistance do we get these stories ?
Not that there ISN'T abuse but it's something else entirely

There might be two sides to every coin (you've obviously never seen a Klein bottle !) but
                                "two anecdotes don't = data"
