"the Third" ( = "bird", according to a Ronnie Barker sketch).

The Two RonniesSeries Five (1976)I know that this has been posted elsewhere, but I couldn't resist posting my favourite Two Ronnies sketch.

Is it just me, or can anyone else see ghosts hovering round the tomb in that photo
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I can see disembodied human shapes but I guess that they are figboxes of Messrs van Heyningen & Haward's software

Surely, someone ought to have apologised for his death by now - or will that come at the burial?

o, all right. I'm sorry; no, truly sorry, - for all that I did that brought about the death of Richard III. And also for anything I may have done that caused harm to Marie-Antoinette, and for my rôle in the Great Fire of London, the loss of the Marie-Celeste, and for my unforgiveable involvement in the case of the Giant Rat of Sumatra, - but sadly that is a story for which the world is not yet prepared....

That's been the excuse for well over a hundred years, and I think it's wearing a bit thin now. Do we have any indication of when the world will be prepared?

If Messrs Gatiss and Moffat read this, they might like to take note!

I do hope tis interment, will b a solemn and dignified one, well suited for a monarch. I( can't believe that since 1485, he was buried in this way!0

I think you have forgotten the assassination of Franz Ferdinand (and Mrs FF - how could you at this time?), the destruction of the library at Alexandria, the arrival of the 'gentleman from Porlock' and King Alfred's failure to keep an eye on the oven. But nothing as reprehensible as the appearance of the serpent in the garden. All those years of Original Sin…

At my age any sin committed is scarcely original, much of it being repetitive from way back but none the less enjoyable for all that

None of my sins has ever approached originality.

Mass in the Sarum Rite at the ceremony, one hopes, a thrill for all Percy Dearmer fans.
