The report is quite clear that there are differences in the ceremony for a re-burial, with different prayers, but that there are also some similarities - eg some of the prayers are the same as for a burial. So it's quite possible that some of the music - eg a requiem mass - would be the same. Unless there's anything in a requiem that refers specifically to a first burial?

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Has anybody seen a text for a re-burial from the time of Richard III?

No, I meant something more like 'You'll have spent such a long time in Purgatory now that I think we could assume you've actually made it to Heaven and we don't need to pray for the repose of your soul any more.'

I think the prayers for a reburial mentioned in the article do say something like that.

Finally got an email (from Capita - who else?):

"I understand you felt the article about Richard III should not have been located in the Business section of the BBC website.

I want to thank you for bringing this to our attention. This article was placed in the wrong area of our website. It will be updated in due course."

Course not yet due, it seems

Capita? Don't hold your breath. It defeats me how they get all these contracts. I wouldn't give them five pounds a week of Harold Wilson's devalued currency.

Of course, it doesn't actually say it's from Capita, but it's 'signed' BBC Audience Services, of which the Complaints section is a part.

Anyone who missed the TV programme about the discovery of Richard III might like to know that it is being repeated tonight on "More 4" at 10.00.

What's the latest on this saga? Seems to have gone quiet again.

I have heard it's going through the courts but since then nothing. Personally, I wished they left him where he was. I think the same team or similiar team, wanted to dig up the two princes that were murdered in the tower. I am glad the HM vetoed that!

This seems to have been the latest. Court proceedings adjourned.

"A judicial review will decide whether the procedure that led to his bones being excavated in Leicester ... was conducted correctly"

& if it decides that it wasn't conducted correctly, what then? Put him back?

That would make the JR application a bit counterproductive. If they lose, he'll be buried in Leicester Cathedral; if they win he'll be buried in a Leicester car park. I assume it's not the licence to excavate that's being challenged but the accompanying stipulation regarding the place of reburial. But even if they win, I'm not sure why that would automatically mean the 'Yorkists' have a right to decide ('we want him to be based near his family so they can visit'?). There will still be the archaeological practice of reburial in the closest consecrated ground to the original place of burial.... I would of thort?
