I do actually have a degree in History and an MA in Medieval Studies, Bryony, so whatever abuse you'd like to hurl at me, I don't think the charge of being ill-informed will stick.

Can someone explain how the mere finding of his body can prove that he was, after all, a Good Thing?

He was of course the last English monarch, though I haven't seen any commentator mention that.
... he was a Plantagenet - the last of the Plantagenets - but basically an Angevin. In any case, French rather than English. We Normans rather tend to look down on the Angevins and Plantagenets as Johnny-come-latelys, but at least he was French...

You remind me of an erstwhile colleague whose employment was recently terminated. She too made a big thing about having history degree, yet when supposedly having researched the history of Eton's Porny School, came up with entirely the wrong name for its founder (her source was the Googled BBC's Doomsday project site to which a child from that school had contributed a garbled version of its history). Sadly, a humanities degree or two are no guarantee of a well-informed mind.

Which maybe shows what a waste some folks make of education ?
Did they not teach you to think rather than rely on "received wisdom" ?

It's not the finding of his body but the findings of historical research which tend to dispel the Shakespearean myth. Tey was not that far off in her historical fictional whodunnit.

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

This is indeed a tremendous discovery and just shows, what with the technical advances that have been made in recent years, as to how they can reach this conclusion?

I don't think that it is but I'm trying to remember from which Verdi opera it comes...

                                Obviously.

So why is everyone linking this find to a reassessment of his character and behaviour?
