... but probably originating from the foothills of the Himalayas they have no problem with the cold really...
The avaian equivalent of rhododendrons perhaps?

A few years ago we had a very large pigeon frequent our garden, along with other birds. It was amusing watching it trying to take off - and a bit hazardous if a cat came along. It always got airborne when we were watching, but only just sometimes, and then there were the trees to negotiate its way around or into/onto once in the air!

A few years ago? What happened - bang bang, supper??

(Apologies for any bad taste there - just trying to cheer myself up)

I don't think so, nor do I really know. It may still be out there, but I've just not spotted it recently. It may have got cross with us because of building work which made the garden landing and take off strip harder to access during last year.
