Interesting that Kirill Petrenko has only appeared with the Berlin Phil three times (first in 2006). Only two of those concert are available to watch on the Digital Concert Hall.

In December 2012 he conducted a strange programme that consisted of Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, Music for Violin and Orchestra and Music for Orchestra in one movement by Rudi Stephan, and Scriabin's Poème de l'extase. The programme for what must have been his second appearance with the orchestra (in May 2009) was Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto (with Lars Vogt) and Elgar's 2nd Symphony.

Was it Norman Lebrecht who linked to an item concerning criticism from Petrenko of what was expected of him in Bayreuth?

Hmmm ... I'm off to watch the Digital Concert Hall offerings. The trailer for the Stravinsky/Stephan/Scriabin is very promising.

Here's a link to the BBC News site announcement:

Kirill Petrenko is elected as the new chief conductor and artistic director for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

I agree, but YouTube links can be a pain for rather specific reasons. Many other web sites are easier.
