Do let me know if I've made a Horlicks of anything....
As Tommy Beecham didn't say 'Went to see m'lawyer today: the man simply reeked of Horlicks'.

Well done, Cali. I didn't respond to your request for a supervision as I had to ask ff to press the requisite buttons.

I suspect it will be Nelsons . A real wild card would be Pappano !

I've always had a hunch for Nelsons to end up at the Concertgebouw.

But if the ENO snapped him up they could have Nelsons' Coliseum up the road from Nelson's Column. Good marketing pitch, I think .

It is said the orchestra favoured Barenboim, but Rattle won them over promises of pay rises. And why not? If you are scraping away on a fiddle you may as well get the max wage for it.
I had heard the management wanted Barenboim, because they thought he would be able to secure more recording contracts, but the orchestra members preferred Rattle, even though he rehearsed them in English.

What a very odd post. Again.

Well, Thielemann is the obvious choice, except if you think the BPO has turned a real corner under Rattle... Have you heard his Bruckner? Amazing. However, even his Schubert 9 sounds like Bruckner! So take your pick on this - real orchestral strategy involved, and not just commercial stuff - heart & soul.

He and Bychkov are front runners, but the trouble with both is that they are excel at opera conducting even more than the symphonic repertoire. Ditto Nelsons. Pappano is surely out as that applies in spades to him.

My bet if Thielemann cannot be enticed from Dresden or if the orchestra thinks this would be backwards step? Yannick. Good programmer of the trad with the mod. Can turn his hand to opera but he is fresh air but would cherish the traditions.

Mmmm.. Barenboim...being paid by the minute? That I can understand ! I find him so ponderous.

Ahemmmm....one doesn't 'scrape' one's fiddle in the BPO....one caresses it.
