It's definitely worked.
So who will be the Berlin Phil.'s music director once Sir Simon leaves?

Its fab Caliban. making the perfect Horlicks requires the help of a quality device though, IMHO.
Are Alison's odds her own or from a reputable bookie? "Oddschecker" didn't help last night !I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Merging is straightforward, but for deciding which you want to be the 'main' one, retaining the title. If you start off, the little drop down menus indicate 1) The proposed title and 2) the board you want it to be one (sometimes the threads are on different boards, so you need to decide which one it should end up on).
Difficult to explain without actually going through the motions, but I gather all has been taken care of now?It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

To return ontopic, as we are talking 5 years hence, it needs a young guy, so how about Gustavo Dudamel?

The Evolution of Wobble.
Ten Myths of Sibelius' Second Symphony in D.
Guardian to Stream behind the scenes of Melvyn Bragg.
Why do so few composers begin with Christian Thielemann's metronome?
Keith Jarrett: Words/Phrases to set your teeth on edge.
So who will be in the running to take over the Music of John Dowland?

Made me chortle
(Just thought of a couple of obscene ones but I mustn't end up modding meself on me first day... )
Ahem...
Come along now, ferney - back on topic please.
A propos: can anyone remember what the reaction was to Sir Simon R being appointed to the BPO?
Was it a surprise? Had anyone predicted it?"...the isle is full of noises,

Ahem, levity suspended!
It is said the orchestra favoured Barenboim, but Rattle won them over promises of pay rises. And why not? If you are scraping away on a fiddle you may as well get the max wage for it.
