No it couldn't. The private clinics provided the procedures, not the aftercare. If the operation had been done by the NHS hospital the aftercare would have been provided by the same team that carried out the original operation; they would know the patient, know what had been done previously.

You'd hope so - and it might have been; my response was merely to point out that the fault of the private system could as easily have occurred in the NHS one, since no one is perfect.

What services are you thinking of? I can't think of any.

Varicose vein operations haven't been offered on the NHS for over 20 years in our area. Those who suffer from this sometimes very painful ailment must be very grateful for private provision, as long as they can afford it, of course. Hernia operations are also difficult to get on the NHS in some areas, I understand.

However most people can take out loans for such unfortunate health eventualities in exactly the same way as many do for their new car and/or summer hols abroad!

These loans will often be advertised in the NHS GP surgeries.

That's not the same as not being offered by the NHS; it's a consequence of how the NHS is organised in England.

Perhaps before looking around for scapegoats, shirkers, fat people, rock climbers who fall off and so on, we should look at REAL priorities. At the top. In public spending.Trident.invading other countries. Insane salaries for CEO's of small local authorities. Etc etc etc.

I was in London the other day, and saw a big No 6 advert above a newsagents. Kinda cheered me up.Haven't seen one of those in decades.
Is it like that everywhere in London?
