    Her Majesty's Undignified Trappings

    1) the "para-orchestra" - quite unsuitable

    2) runners unable to run - quite unsuitable

    3) the entire vulgar rigmarole about so-called "sport" - quite unsuitable

    4) the Military Wives Choir - not very good, therefore unsuitable

    5) the invocation of poverty as a virtue - rather out of place.

How it SHOULD be done: Her Majesty in the Palace, seated, simply speaks for ten minutes. Nothing else - except perhaps the Anthem before or after, played by a proper military band.

The Betty Windsor Show is the human equivalent of monkeys bonding by grooming each other. She never has anything interesting or amusing to say.

Oh dear, I think you'd better not watch then!
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

I rather agree with Syd - keep it simple & traditional, & don't try to make it 'relevant' - because it isn't.

You're right...much better used to record Ed Miliband.

Top of the range recording system for Her Majesty. Nothing but the best. Merry Christmas.

No real worries about the "Windsors" getting the best, RM.....goes with the "Job " they inherited !!
Hope you enjoyed the speech , though.

I did not watch the broadcast, but I saw the clip on the news yesterday. The Queen seemed to be standing in front of a set of doorways, which was a most unsuitable background - but no doubt looked wonderful in 3D !

I have not seen the 'show' but your description puts me in mind of the opening sequence of Get Smart.

An excellent Christmas Broadcast by Her Majesty; and a reminder of some marvellous moments in 2012. A lot more worth watching than most of the pap that was broadcast on Christmas Day.

                            God Save The Queen!

Oh I don't know - this was very inspiring, on Sky Movies 74:

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
