Tony Biggin - http://tonybiggin.com/Tony_Biggin/Welcome.html. Thank Eine.

If I have to choose just three, I will pick two from other people and one from me. I will put forward the Biggin - a new work! - and also the Lilburn from others - there were many that I could have chosen - and the Chabrier from me (although Villa-Lobos would also be welcome). On the Chabrier, Beecham might have been a "character" but whatever he was involved in naturally appeals.

Thanks re Biggin Lat. And you are right about Beecham. Once I know one of his recordings of a work nothing else will do. Schubert sym 5, Chabrier overtures, lots of things. Sorry off topic

                  Rules as before..................

Vote for 3 - Top Ten to go to PT/SMP - if you hate lists/polls apologies
Good work Anton I'll go for Tam O Shanter, Semiramide, Merry Wives

However statistically speaking getting a top ten from choosing 3 is not sound - that is my only dislike of polls generally. If you want a top 10 you should really be asking for everybodys top 10.

In alphabetical rather than any other order - I think you could get into serious problems if you start ranking in order of preference.

                          Arnold:Tam O'Shanter
                          Berlioz :Les Franc Judges
                          Borodin :Prince Igor
                          Elgar:In the South
                          Glinka :Russlan and Ludmilla
                          Mendelssohn :A Midsummer Night's Dream
                          Nicolai :Merry Wives of Windsor
                          Rossini :Semiramide
                          Smetana:Bartered Bride
                          Tchaikovsky:Hamlet

Enjoy your task - are you putting a time limit on it?

If I'm one of the owners of the thread, count me out,Anton. It started with six, went to three and is now ten.

Will a list ever reach Breakfast unless we stop posting and leave it to Anton next week.? I agree with Lady Gould, time for a nice lunch. Or in her case breakfast apparently.

                              bestio and out
