OMG Alison back to the glory days when I was the boy statistician to the Great Lady. I had totally forgotten this and cannot remember Pitfield or the Overture at all ..... doesn’t seem to be on YouTube .... although my searching skills are appalling .... he has been played twice by The Gasper this year ....

Were I to pick a list now it would be completely different and sadly much more mainstream .........

I think 'The Gasper' may be Petroc Trelawney, whose breath control - or alleged lack of it - has been the subject of debate.

The Gasper is indeed Petroc .... he of, seemingly, appalling breath control ....

..... and as you say Rumpole some things never change assembling the tray as we speak ....

Had my previous message been spoken, there would have been a heavy emphasis on 'alleged'

So not much demand for Electric Light Orchestra's 10538 Overture then?

                                Warning - off topic - a bit:
<< whose breath control - or alleged lack of it - has been the subject of debate.>>
I'm always surprised at Jeremy Corbyn's breathing - gasps in the middle of phrases, before each word sometimes....serious: is he an asthmatic?

                                Overtures? OK, so.............
                                Beethoven: Egmont
                                Mozart: Magic Flute
                                Rossini: Thieving Magpie
                                Wagner : Die Meistersinger

                                ....might come back later.
