Thanks Serial. I like Blossom Dearie. Tracey Thorn introduced me to her. Not personally, of course.

Ben does a nicer, if quaint, version of Surrey too. I have always chosen to see it as knowingly twee.

'm sorry to say it, and I'm not proud of it, but for the first time in my life I did not be vote in an election.
I have seen so little information about the Police Commissioner elections that I could not make a sensible decision. When I visited the website I saw such a paucity of helpful information it was laughable.
I've seen better at an election for school prefects....
What an utter waste of time and money.

That's you disenfranchised for a start then!

Thanks, GongGong! One of the best laughs of the year!

good advice, but most right thinking folk keep out already..

Thank you, Simon. That was a very clever riposte.

The villagers stayed away, the Guardianista intelligentsia voted, and Derbyshire has a Labour PCC. That will be something to mutter about in the pub tonight. Simon? Oh, too late - he's already gone
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The runner-up was the Tory, Simon Spencer .... surely not?

Well, I had a double first in these elections with an independent elected for Avon & Somerset. Well done, Sue!

Maybe he knew all the villagers would be voting Labour so that's why they didn't vote: he kept plying them with drinks in the pub .

Then I do not get what you're talking about; the duck house thing was surely frowned upon because a certain MP has paid for it out of his MP's expenses rather than his own pocket. Oh, never mind...

maybe it's only YOU who think that (like a teenager)
                        "it's all about me"

but as we all know your intelligence knows no bounds we could have spared all the hassle and simply asked you what to do in the first place (assuming dame judy would give you the evening off that is )......

Well, I didn't vote for him (anyone), but I may well have done. His pitch didn't seem too bad. One of the candidates in Kent actually had the bright idea of driving hoodlums out of the county, perhaps persuading them to go to Surrey or another nearby county! He didn't get in.

I should apologise though, I agree. I rarely go for the "lots of smileys" type of post - that's GongGong's habit - but I just couldn't resist. I had this vision of a turkey voting for Christmas...
