All I know of him is what I've heard him say in news reports following his apppointment, but I wouldn't say that he was anti-gay. He opposes same-sex marriage, but it would be very surprising if he didn't, given the organisation he heads. He did say that he would consider the matter 'prayerfully', which suggests that he is leaving the door open a tiny bit, & said he was opposed to homophobia in the church. We'll have to wait & see what happens.

It's not the organisation that's ridiculous - it's what it's for that is

Being anti gay marriage IS being anti-gay. Absurd *mystical* beliefs do not give anyone an excuse to be a bigot although these people always try to square that circl.e..

Until 2002 the Anglican church would not permit people who were divorced to re-marry in church because 'marriage is a lifelong commitment'. From 2002 it became an issue for the discretion for each the priest to decide.

So things can be altered to suit the times - perhaps the new AoC should be reminded of this while he struggles prayerfully

That cannot possibly be true if only that some gay people themselves have 'come out' against gay marriage.

Are you therefore accusing some openly gay people of being 'anti-gay' and 'bigots', and is your own post itself a shining example of a heartwarming tolerance of those who simply happen to hold sincere and contrary views to your own?

Please don't lecture me on tolerance!

Yes, the phenomenon of *self-hatred* is actually quite common. Holding *sincere* views, does that make then less absurd and bigoted? Of course NOT!

I don't think that name calling of belief systems,"absurd" or otherwise, is at all helpful.
Intolerance, and divide and rule, are the weapons of those in power who wish to maintain the status quo., the rest of us need to support each other.

Well, I am opposed to gay marriage...but then, I'm opposed to marriage, generally. Does that mean I'm anti-gay?

I really don't get how people can be opposed to gay marriage
and never heard a convincing argument about how it will make the world a worse place
If you don't like the idea then don't get gay married ................ no one is forcing you to
