    !!!

By the way, I know a pianist who goes by the name Ernest So (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_So ); should he remain surnameless, one might wonder?

No, but I am a huge admirer of that member even though I did fail to agree with his strong contention that human salvation lies in a world wholly without borders and populated exclusively with 'homosexualist' Marxists. I did find that rather a step too far ...

Is no-one capable of telling me how far into the programme this discussion occurs?

A terrible habit indeed, and one which I'm not immune to.

                      It's a so and so, isn't it?

                        English intonation test:
                        - So... So ?
                        -Hmm... so-so.
                        -Huh ? So ? So-so ?! Silly so 'n so !

You may not be 'immune' to the terrible habit but it is a common disease which is completely self-curable.

A time-honoured method is simply to treat the 'so' response as being as wrong and inappropriate as continually using a four-letter word in front of the children or the local vicar.

I urge you to give it a go, Mr Barrett ... if you do, hopefully your example will inspire others to do the same.

I think there are various ways of prolonging thinking time when in the throes of answering a direct question.

So is by no means the most irritating of these...

                              Ach so!

                                "What's not to like?"
Why is everybody using that mode of expression these days?

Is it a question or an answer?

... or just an example of sarcastic anti semitism?
