A favourite phrase of the modern football commentator ... '... he has been caught ball-watching.'
When I was a young laddie would-be future stars like myself were repeatedly instructed by our coaches to 'keep your eye on the ball' ... and 'play the ball not the man'.
That might explain my subsequent football career failure. Clearly I was badly advised by my mentors.

Oh yes, 'they' appear to be all at it now ! In my experience politicians, strangely, are not the most guilty of employing this latest, utterly meaningless and grossly irritating Americanism.
That most supreme of Tipps' accolades tends to fall on those in the media introduced as 'experts' such as lecturers, philosophers, scientists and associated commentators.
Not that I generally suffer from a peculiar Goveian-style phobia regarding experts, you understand ...
