Here’s an expression that I come across regularly at my place of work, where management newspeak and drivel are rife. It now appears to be becoming more and more widespread.

“Looks like”. On the BBC website today I read, “What might Yes talks look like?” I’ve no idea. A bunch of people sitting round a table? Is it not more important to think about what they might “sound like”?

          “Looks like”...
I'm slow. Is it supposed to be a simile of "seems like"?

            I've heard "money talks", but not of "yes talks", which, I'm presuming, constitute some pain in the a*se's idea of... p o s i t i v i t y.

The latest wretched Yankee import at the BBC ... the use of the word 'so' at the beginning of every response to a question.

Academics and 'experts' are the worst offenders.

Apologies in advance if someone has already raised this.

simply making a list does not imo amount to curation for instance.

organising a live performance by various performers does not amount to curation either.

francine stock does not curate a selection of films for us to engage with on r4 ....(though i'm sure she's sensible enough to realise this, desists those who might prefer she express herself as a sycophant, or needy child might).

right, i'm off to curate some soup for supper.
                getting worse , this one.

I noticed a shop with an A board the other day, describing its contents as " Curated".

No doubt the curator had a 2 day residency.

More than a year now since we heard from HF.....

Well, we know everything on the Breakfast Programme is curated, by Clemmy and her chums.

Something of a curate's egg, for sure.

Was that the contents of the shop or the contents of the A board?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I knew, I just KNEW somebody would ask.
And I had a short list of likely candidates.

Both the board and the shop had contents that had undergone curation. Well, I assume, as they didn't make it clear.

It was one of those posh west country towns.
