The reporter's gender is irrelevant, surely

...to which he ought perhaps to answer "who is person L?"; "personnel" always struck me as an odd term in any case, reminding me as it does of the notion that no one is a learner driver...

I find it difficult to believe that any HR department would talk of "person L". They'd more likely speak of "unit L".

There is an NHS meeting next door as we speak!

(As we speak. Is that allowed on this board?)

So join me for the next hour and the next 300 messages.

                We’ve had” If I can interject…” already!

I was at a school last year that had
                    "site agents" instead of "caretakers"

though I guess they probably had ejector seats fitted to the DB5

Not at al Pabs - "axing" is in regular use among the Afro-Carribean community to this day in London - eg, angry customer to nervous staff member in Brixton Tesco's this morning: "You is AXING me, or you is TELLING me?"

I escaped during the NHS meeting so I can't "furnish you" with any phrases!

but I guess it's always good to touch base so that we are still in the same ballpark

We need to workshop this. I can shoe-horn a window in my diary next Thursday.
