I once asked about this distinction while on a business studies module of a college course, and was told, "Results mark an end-process, whereas outcomes lead to results".

Moving on - as in, "How sad, you won't be able to move on until you know for certain where your sister's body was buried".

"The national interest" - there is no such thing.

Is this the fastest-growing thread in the history of The Forum... ?!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Consultants and other 'professionals' who charge for telling people how to do things.

Debts appear to be paid down - rather than off as in the olden days. No wonder we are still in debt.

The word “drizzle” (used by chefs) for some strange reason sends my BP up.
My life, each morning when I dress, is four and twenty hours less. (J Richardson)

The use of 'showcase' as a verb.

'On a weekly/monthly/regular basis' to mean simply 'weekly/monthly/regularly'.

Allied horrors are "pre-preparations" and "forward planning" - an oldie, the latter I think, but what other sort of bloody planning is there?

I'm afraid I laugh in people's faces when they trot out this sort of rubbish in meetings. A favourite rib-tickler for me is

                                "Let's touch base later"

Various responses include "You keep your hands off my base", "Somebody call HR" &c. &c.
