Matthew Parris, in today's Times, comments on the latest piece of stupid jargon (his words) that he has come across: stood up.
In a letter from NHS chiefs, GPs are told that "each site stood up would need to deliver 975 doses to priority patients". NHS England boasts of "hundreds of ... vaccination centres stood up across the country". The vaccines minister, Nadhim Zahawi, bafflingly exclaims that "we stood up a unit across government ... which was a Covid disinformation unit".
He goes on to conjecture if this is a counterpart to business-speak burble about a project or a person "falling over".
