these new words remind me of the way Jon Culshaw used to impersonate George W Bush on Dead Ringers

.......U.S. President George W. Bush, whose own Bushisms are ridiculed even further with invented words such as "Ignorify", "Astonisherate", "Climactification" and "Shockerating". At one point he refers to Condoleezza Rice as "Basmati Rice" and displays his misspeaking with the statement "I want Osama Bin Laden capturised alive or dead or both!" His use of malapropisms is also lampooned ruthlessly, such as when he says, "My fellow Abbytitmuses, this is your Steradent speaking..."[wikipedia]

As a matter of interest how do you pronounce "automobile"? Now how do you pronounce "mobile"?

          To say nothing of "thermometer".

A kilometre is just that, one thousand metres. A kilOMMeter if it existed, would be a device for measuring kilos. This is probably the second most common mispronunciation, the most common is, of course, dissection.

                    Who was it said

"Anything, anything at all by Tanita Tikaram?"

occurs to me that certain R3 presenters fall into this category.........

                      "put simply"

Don't put it simply; just explain it better.

                        "Reaching out..."

                        "Outreach"

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

well its a good thing that the Four Tops didn't think like that, or we would have missed out on a classic tune !!

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Probably brought up several times already - policemen, social work managers etc - "I can't comment on individual cases" (to avoid having to defend the indefensible). The interviewer then asks the same question in a more general way, equally unsuccessfully.

" Stop the world; I want to get off."

                                I must stop saying this!
