It is also, as I'm sure you might well agree, richly more satisfying pointing out the hypocrisies of others rather than advertising one's own, don't you think ?
I really have no idea; perhaps I should try it sometime and hope to find out...

You would be more likely to get a job on the minimum wage than the living wage with a CV that declared that.

'You know what...' repeatedly used by politicians as an assurance of candour in the comment that follows.

James Watt has been dead for quite some time - like much of today's politics.

It's a common expression of the "So … " generation:

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Come on, how could these possibly be Trevithick's inventions if these were 'his' ... ?

I think they were absolutely Trevithick, but it's not patently obvious, but don't get all puffed up about it.

Tippsy's been overindulging on the Scotch, I expect, and it's made him a bit grumpy!

When I read this part of the discussion, I thought it was veering towards that mainly eighties phrase "blue eyed soul".

I never had a problem with it other than it was often applied to music that shouldn't ever really be described as soul.

On the contrary, I suspect (in all modesty, of course!) I may be slightly ahead in the forum game here, and therefore enjoying it thoroughly, S_A ...
