I presume 'going forward' has already been cited on this thread. I think that one drives me more crazy than anything - whatever happened to 'in future'?

I think it's probably been postponed, if not cancelled...

A favourite phrase of the modern football commentator ... '... he has been caught ball-watching.'

When I was a young laddie would-be future stars like myself were repeatedly instructed by our coaches to 'keep your eye on the ball' ... and 'play the ball not the man'.

That might explain my subsequent football career failure. Clearly I was badly advised by my mentors.

That, and two left feet were my downfall, PGT!

On Michael Rosen's prog on R4 - Word of Mouth - they've just dealt among others with 'So....' at the start of answers, my very unfavouritest bit of verbals.

Not my door, at least; no politician would come anywhere near that (even if only because most of them couldn't even find it)...

When was that? This afternoon's seemed to be all about the language of video games so I didn't listen very carefully.

You should listen more carefully - remember, you reap what you so.

Oh yes, 'they' appear to be all at it now ! In my experience politicians, strangely, are not the most guilty of employing this latest, utterly meaningless and grossly irritating Americanism.

That most supreme of Tipps' accolades tends to fall on those in the media introduced as 'experts' such as lecturers, philosophers, scientists and associated commentators.

Not that I generally suffer from a peculiar Goveian-style phobia regarding experts, you understand ...

You're not Sydney Grew in disguise, are you?...

                                "Most supreme" is a tautology.
