"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Only because he gave the first one back.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

So we must assume it was a *!@!*#*&*!*! Government at the time ... ?

It was Harold Wilson's government - but I think I misremembered and only John handed his MBE back

'Go figure ... ' ... and you too, pal!

'For best results, mix 40g of Mornflake Scottish Jumbo Oats with 285mls of cold water in a saucepan, bring to the boil, and then simmer for 6-7 minutes'

Nonsense! For best results, grab a teacup, stuff it three-quarters full with Mornflake Scottish Jumbo Oats, shove it (not the teacup) in a saucepan, add two-and-a-half teacups of cold water and one heaped teaspoonful of sea salt, bring to the boil, and then simmer for 20/25 mins, stirring occasionally and preferably every minute or so.

It's supposed to be thick, tasty porridge not thin, tasteless gruel ...

Damn! I have looked it up but have forgotten what it's supposed to mean. I didn't find it necessary to remember
