Time going so quickly yet Easter taking an age to arrive. I'm ready for a break at Easter.
Once again a Philharmonia Thursday for old Sainty.
I like going to concerts on Thursdays and Sundays.
My favourite concert days are Friday and Sunday. Might be because I need only one day off work instead of two and can save the day not taken another time.
"The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink
I suppose every day of the week has its own defining qualities.
What is it about Thursdays? Always a good evening to go or listen to a concert.
And wasn't late night shopping born on Thursdays ?
Coming up: to watch or not watch Question Time ?
I've only just looked at this thread.
Maybe this answers one of your questions. It is a passage from Donald Frederickson's "The Reluctant Sleuth", a Peter Weston detective novel
Weston lay on his back and stared at the bedroom ceiling, studying the intricate tracery of cobwebs spreading out from one corner. Time the place was given a proper going over; he'd have to get someone in twice a week.
Wednesday, he thought, Bloody Wednesday! Why is it that nothing good has ever happened to me on a Wednesday? I know! We'll have a six day week, sixty one weeks a year and drop a week every eighth year! Never mind about the moon it's only a useless lump of dust circling around us, what the hell does it matter where it is in the sky? That way, we could dispose of Wednesday altogether and kids at school wouldn't have to bother about how to spell it and I'd be rid of bloody Wednesday, when nothing good has ever happened to me and I'll be able to shut my eyes now and then open them again and it will be Thursday and that's all right; because you know you're getting near to the weekend when it's Thursday. I'll drop a line to the Prime Minister about it tomorrow. Now then, would tomorrow be Thursday or Friday?
He abandoned the problem and looked at his watch. Eight fifteen, plenty of time yet ... No, there isn't! There's something that has to be done right now! .....
Wednesday used to be Early Closing Day - an event that I always forgot about until after 1 o'clock.
No longer a problem, but now our nearest Lending Library is closed all day on Wednesdays - which I forget until I arrive at those big closed wooden doors.
So Thursday is welcome. More than halfway through the week. Fish and Chips on Saturday and Sunday Roast.
The penultimate One in May...and a lovely Bank Holiday on the way.some Mahler on he wireless tonight, and the politicians get to feel even more self important than usual.
Have a nice day.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

And you, over the sea on Skye! BBC Breakfast weather suggests a rain-free bright couple of days there, after a dirty great blue rain patch first thing today moves away, and a brisk north-easterly... if that is to be believed, which as far as London weather is concerned it has not been of late until last minute changes to reflect that fact that it's not actually pouring as predicted !!
Blooming early start today and a big deadline. Rarely has a long weekend been as well timed !

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
